And This Is Why Nigeria Is Not A World Power

LAGOS (Reuters) – Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.

Vigilantes took the black and white beast to the police saying it was an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into a goat to escape arrest after trying to steal a Mazda 323.

"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.

Maybe they think that it was one of those people with special powers from Heroes.

The Biggest question here is - Where are PETA lawyers when you need them?

Laugh all you like at Nigeria; the people who live there are far more free than you are. Did you know that there is no income tax in Nigeria? You get to keep what you earn there, and there are many millionaires (measured in dollars) who live very clean comfortable lives, with the kind of freedom that your forefathers enjoyed and that you pine and whine for.

You American people are the most easily propagandized in the world. That is good. The longer you think Nigeria is a joke, the longer your murderous intentions are kept away from us and our natural resources.

Enjoy your income taxing, freedom destroying imperial government. LOSERS!

Ok, so tell me again why Nigerians leave Nigeria to come drive cabs in America? or come here to go to school?

You really are astonishingly ignorant.

There are 160 Million Nigerians. People come from all over the world to america for all sorts of reasons. Some of them are Nigerians. It proves and demonstrates nothing whatsoever.

If that is the best you can do to counter what I said, Q.E.D. you have proved my point.

If I were you, I would go back to solving the problems of Connecticut and your own murderous government and spend less time engaging in regurgitating the silly 'humor' that is fed to you by your media, to make you and your God forsaken country feel superior when you are in fact inferior.

And while we are at it, newspapers in other countries could just as easily ridicule you americans for your snake handling strychnine drinking lunatics. The comparison would be the same; smear a country of hundreds of millions because of the action of a small cult. Not very intelligent behavior.

You need to take a lesson from your founding fathers and behave with more personal dignity and respect for other people and their ways.

Or not, and continue to fiddle while america burns.

Finally, Nigeria does not want to be a 'world power'. Look where it got the Soviet Union, Britain and you. Only a total idiot would want to follow those disastrous paths.

Typical retort to resort to personal attack. Not very effective though.

Ok - yes - let's speak about ignorance shall we - If Nigeria is doing so fantastically well and is so free and wonderful - then how come they are in need of American dollars? ($45 million in 2006)

The greatest constraints to Nigeria's advancement are deeply entrenched poverty and unemployment.

Nigeria has one of the largest tuberculosis burdens in Africa.

Despite a political transition to democracy in 1999, Nigeria continues to face enormous challenges. Two-thirds of the country's citizens live in poverty; corruption is endemic, with Nigeria perceived as the third most corrupt country of 102 assessed by Transparency International; unemployment is growing, with up to 40% of urban youth jobless; half of the adult population is illiterate; close to four million Nigerians are HIV-positive; and 20% of children die before the age of five. Although Nigeria is a major oil producer, oil revenues amount to less than $100 per capita per year and provide little benefit to the majority of Nigeria's 133 million citizens.

You might do well to stop throwing rocks at me and my country until Nigeria rejects funding from the USA. But they would never do that would they? Looks like they are somewhat complicit in America's "imperialist" behavior by taking our aid. Why strive to be a world power when everyone else can fight your battles, feed your hungry and fight your diseases and lack of education for you.

Nuff said anonymous.

Fascinating that you choose a us government website to tell you about a foreign country. Nigeria has 53 billion dollars in reserves (and that's just dollars) you ignorant Americans, who are actually broke, do not need to be and should not be giving money to them at all. It's beyond a joke.

Americas golden age is over. You people failed to rise to the occasion and live by the fine words and ideals of your forefathers. The lives of the myriad peoples of the world are better than yours - and you will never know it. I pity you in your deep and dark ignorance, flailing about like a goldfish whose world has just been dropped and shattered by it's child owner.

Why do you think the wealthy are fleeing the USA? Cheyney, jim rogers and many millionaires are all leaving the sinking ship, not for worse places, but for better free-er countries. No matter what you read about Nigeria in government publications or any publication it is a great place to live and make money. You can thrive there withou police state surveillance taxes and other absurd and harmful western ills.

You just stay right there in Connecticut, believing in your government and Santa Claus. That's right where we ( the civilized world ) wants you.

As I said - you can continue your rant - but you'll still take millions of dollars of foreign aid from us to attend to the domestic problems that you have.

Before you throw more rocks at me - you'd better be more concerned about the poverty, civil war, discrimination, lawlessness and corruption in your own backyard.

Yeah, the US has problems and I don't agree with what the morons in Washington are doing...but the fact remains we aren't arresting goats.

oh and if you'd prefer a different source of news than the US Government website try this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/country_profiles/1064557.stm

"Nigeria is keen to attract foreign investment but is hindered in this quest by security concerns as well as by a shaky infrastructure troubled by power cuts."

Nigeria (and all the other countries that take your 'aid') takes money from the fools who give it. They have no obligation to pay it back, so who would not take it? Only a fool, who would be more foolish than the giver. As for arresting goats, I would direct you to look at your own Weekly World News, which is full of 'Bat Child' stories, 'Satan captured in Iraq' stories, 'Alien Bible Found', etc etc:

http://images.google.com/images?q=weekly%20world%20news&hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

You people are the masters of nonsense in newspapers, and the gullible, ignorant american people lap it up. You all lapped up the story about WMDs in Iraq, another nonsense story of a much more serious kind, and then voted in Bush AGAIN. Give me a break.

America does not have the moral or intellectual high ground. Your unquestioning defense of it is pretty sad.

Ah yes - the US tabloids are for fun and entertainment - but still and all Nigerians seriously arrested a goat.

Nigeria has just about as much if not more problems then the US and we can sit here all day and throw rocks at each other about whose country is better than another, but at the end of the day it's all really the same.

Personally, if I were in charge - no country would get a dime in aid from America. Sovereign countries should sort out their own problems.

Fact is Nigerians arrested a goat that they believe used to be a man who committed a crime. If that is bad press for you then take it up with the newspapers.

Please, take your anger and name calling somewhere else. It is irrelevant here.
