Right To Work Versus Union Shop States

Interesting video from Glenn Beck

"If unions are so great wouldn't that mean that Detroit would be Disneyworld? Shouldn't that be the most prosperous place on earth?"

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips says:
Job growth and prosperity is happening in "right to work" states.
People are moving to states where there is freedom.

If employers shut down factories in union states, of course workers will move to the states where there are jobs. That doesn't prove anything about the value or lack of value unions provide workers. If government took over the food supply and only provided access to food for people who took loyalty oaths to a genocidal government, that some people take the oath wouldn't prove the people like genocide. It would prove people are driven by hunger.

I don't think that is a valid analogy...

So what are people who work for unions that they hate driven by needing a job? Not necessarily. They are probably just as happy that the union is creating job guarantees for them, and are just as happy to fork over whatever hefty dues are required so they can enjoy the fruits of the coercive environment that the unions create in the overall job market. IMO, One might as well work for the Mafia.

The fact is that when unions choke freedom in the market place then people will be more apt to go where they can choose work freely and not have to deal with the coercive tactics of the union bosses; that is if they have any moral objections to how the unions operate. Those that choose to stay and work within union demands or a union environment are content to live with those demands and they obviously care not what happens to people who are outside of the union. They are most likely happy with the unfair playing field that the union provides for them.

I re-iterate:
Job growth and prosperity is happening in "right to work" states. People are moving to states where there is freedom.
