Thanks for this post. Yes, absolutely it's the governmnets fault. I don't quite get why they would want to do this. The only explanation would be a power grab, but the cost is so mind boggling that I really can't explain this behavior.
Have you seen that Bernanke is warning of economic collapse if the Fed is audited? I fail to see what one has to do with the other, but he's obviously frightened by the prospect of an audit.
They know if they are audited that some things will be uncovered that they don't want the public to know.
