A Tragedy Will Breed More Loss Of Liberty

You can take that to the bank.
Who said, "You never want a good crisis to go to waste"?

Already power hungry statists in Congress are pushing legislation to capitalize on the tragic incident in Arizona, and further restrict law abiding citizens everywhere. That is the next biggest tragedy.

The shooting in Tucson of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her constituents, was NOT in fact "caused by the Tea Party", or "caused by Sarah Palin" or any other entity that Paul Krugman and his ilk would like you to believe.
This shooting incident was caused by a deranged individual.

We need to face the fact that there ARE, and always WILL BE, deranged individuals in our midst. Legislation will not make them go away, and we should not restrict the freedom of all of us because of them.
It wasn't the gun laws fault, it wasn't the gun makers fault, it wasn't even the lack of security.
It was a deranged person who used a tool to harm others. He could have just as well threw a glass of battery acid into the crowd, or detonated himself in the middle of a crowd, or did some other sick thing.

Thankfully, we have individuals in society who even in the midst of their grief show amazing wisdom. The father of the 9-Year-Old murder victim does not want more restrictions of freedoms.

As a result of this terrible shooting you can be sure that statists will want to restrict
your speech,
your movement,
your ability to defend yourself,
your ability to criticize your government,
what you can see and hear on radio and TV
and more.

Rep. Clyburn wants to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Which in fact is not "Fair" at all.

Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) reportedly plans to introduce legislation that would restrict your freedom of expression - "that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a federal official or member of Congress."

Just who will define exactly what is threatening?
What language or symbols exactly?
Will it be an angry complaint letter?
Giving him "the finger" when you see him at a Town hall?
Drawing a picture of a target somewhere?
Why restrict this only to members of Congress? What about the rest of us?
What about members of Congress inciting violence and war against it's own people?

This is all such a knee-jerk reaction that has no clear level headed logic attached to it.

The reality is that public figures will have people who hate them.
Some may be sick enough to want to do some harm.
This has been so since the beginning of time.
It cannot be legislated away.

But again ...
When Leftists created a movie that depicted George Bush being assassinated - that was ok?
When Barack Obama said, "“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” - that was ok?
Was it ok when Barack Obama also said the following:
Obama on ACORN Mobs: "I don't want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I'm angry!"
Obama to His Mercenary Army: "Hit Back Twice As Hard"
Obama on the private sector: "We talk to these folks… so I know whose a_ _ to kick."
Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean "hand to hand combat"
Obama to lib supporters: "It's time to Fight for it."
Obama to Latino supporters: "Punish your enemies."
And where was our attorney general when the New Black Panther Party Leader said, " I hate white people… you want freedom you're going to have to kill some Crackers" ?

This is just a sampling of the vitriol from the Left - why are the media critters and Congressmen and Paul Krugman's not blaming this, instead of laying blame just at the feet of Palin and Beck?

Bottomline: People are dead because an angry unhappy deranged person murdered them.
The reality is that this was a criminal act - which we have laws to deal with - and sadly this type of thing can not always be prevented unless we live in a society where we have no Freedom at all.

And on the subject of breeding more loss of liberty as a result of this tragedy, Zerohedge writes this:
Somehow, every liberal MSM “journalist” has concluded that this was due to the contentious political atmosphere in the country. This is code for “we need less dissent”. Stop disagreeing with the Obama agenda. If you disagree, you are dangerous.
Let's not use this tragedy to shut down dissent or further restrict our freedoms.
And surely more loss of freedom will only make more people more angry in these very difficult times.

That is not a good alternative either.
Even the 9 year old's dad agrees with that.

Sincere condolences to the families of those who were brutally murdered, and prayers for full recovery for those who were injured in this horrific shooting.

Let's honor them all by re-dedicating ourselves to Constitutional principles, freedom and family.

Excellent, as always!

Japan has all sorts of gun control and far fewer rights than we have and look at how often they have some maniac go on a knife spree.

It is amazing how fast certain pundits fell all over each other to exploit the deaths of six people and the wounding of 14 more. Obscene.

You mean a knife spree like this?

Is one anecdote enough?

Shouldn't Japan outlaw knives...and trucks?
