MMR Vaccine - Follow The Money

The NYT reports that the Institute of Medicine claims MMR vaccine has no link to autism...
“The M.M.R. vaccine doesn’t cause autism, and the evidence is overwhelming that it doesn’t,” Dr. Ellen Wright Clayton, the chairwoman of the panel, assembled by the Institute of Medicine, said in an interview. She was referring to a combination against measles, mumps and rubella that has long been a focus of concern from some parents’ groups.
However....Other sources say otherwise -
The Institute of Medicine, which has long functioned as a front group for the pharmaceutical industry and receives tens of millions of dollars in annual funding from drug companies and global elitists (like Bill Gates, Ted Turner, etc.), has issued a report that declares the MMR vaccine is not linked to autism. This is now being widely reported in the conventional (controlled) media, which isn't telling you the real story behind this report.

What's the real story? That this IOM report, even though it goes out of its way to excuse vaccines and dismiss safety concerns, still openly admits that vaccines cause measles, febrile seizures, anaphylactic shock and other potentially fatal side effects. It also admits that other vaccines are linked to a whole host of bizarre side effects, including skin lesions, difficulty breathing and live virus infections

Furthermore, the conclusion that "vaccines do not cause autism" is erroneous, as the IOM did not interview even a single parent of an autistic child and did not conduct a medical review of any autistic children whatsoever. Instead, the IOM claims to have reviewed thousands of vaccine papers published in conventional medical journals -- yes, the very same medical journals that are practically run by pharmaceutical interests and have been caught publishing "scientific" articles that were really fraudulently ghostwritten by drug company hacks.

The controversy rages on because there's big money involved. The government had asked the the Institute of Medicine (an organization that gets government funding) to review the known risks of vaccines to help guide decisions about compensation for those who claim to have been injured by vaccines. Back in 1986 there was legislation passed by Congress which pretty much absolved vaccine makers of the risks of being sued for vaccine injuries and forced those who suffer injury to petition the government for compensation.

With all the legislators who receive money from Big Pharma and Washington being inundated with the best lobbyists Big Pharma can buy - it is pretty clear that these companies are being protected while children are being damaged.

What's really unfortunate is the media's involvement in pushing these vaccine favorable reports... then again follow the money - who buys gobs of their advertising?
Big Pharma.

In any case - parents should do their own research regarding MMR, as well as other vaccinations, and be wary. They should check these "peer reviewed" studies and look to see who funded them.

The fact is that children have gotten sick from MMR vaccines (as well as other vaccines), and there are parents out there who can attest to that. That's information parents need to know., and it is all part of informed consent.

The so-called link between MMR and autism is a result of the fact that autism first becomes detectable about the same time a child is getting their childhood vaccinations. That's it!! That's the entire body of evidence. Using that theory it would be just as likely that MMR caused teeth.

Most "new" and mild forms of autism are neither new or autism. There is government funding to schools and health organizations based on the number of autistic children they service. Consequently more children are being dubbed autistic who are not autistic. Then the child and the parents are USED for the rest of their life and most parents are heartbroken and never really understand that they are being played. WHat a sad commentary; That is children without autism are being defined as autistic for economic gain, parents and others are being tortured over their decisions and false claims and probably worst of all thousands of children are being put at risk when concerned parents opt out of life saving vaccinations. Some day in the future perhaps it will be obvious to all how much damamge this superstition based belief has caused. Perhaps someday we will get real numbers of children harmed by skipping vaccinations. But for those who cling to superstition instead of science I can only wish you luck and hope you figure this out sooner rather then later before more children are put at risk. So sad, a failure of our education system, something I would expect in Africa or some other country with little education and much superstition...

Anonymous - you certainly have a right to your opinion... however I think a whole host of parents who have had children with profound reaction immediately after receiving MMR vaccinations may tend to disagree. I doubt it is only because "autism first becomes detectable about the same time a child is getting their childhood vaccinations".

Superstition? One person's "superstition' is another man's truth. I know plenty of families that do not vaccinate and their children are quite healthy. Some people choose not to be part of the herd mentality, and that should definitely be their choice.

No one is disputing that certain vaccinations are in fact desirable, but you have to recognize the truth that there is a percentage of children who fact have been made very very sick by these injections. There are records proving this. Are they merely to be considered collateral damage by drug companies? should we just ignore them? should parents just submit their children to vaccination without informed consent and information about other children who have in fact had life threatening reactions? I think not and if you believe that to be superstition then that is truly a shame.

Your comment: "I know plenty of families that do not vaccinate and their children are quite healthy" misses the point. Prior to the 20th century and vaccines half of all children died before the age of five and more then half of those surviving past five years old died before age 18. Most of these deaths were a result of the common childhood diseases we now avoid thanks to vaccines like MMR. Arguably you and I and most adults we know today are alive ONLY because of vaccinations. Yes children who do not get vaccinations are perfectly healthy...until they get one of those diseases. It does happen, I have seen and lived in the same house with a baby who had whooping cough and will never forget it. The baby would literaly turn blue during a coughing attack and the sound of the child coughing literally brings tears to your eyes. I am old enough to remember people in iron lungs, I have actually visited a family member in an iron lung in the early 50's.

There is no evidence that vaccinations cause autism. Regardless of what parents have theorized this has been fully investigated and it just is not true. Very very few children are harmed by vaccinations, something like 3 per million and the harm is usually not serious. Death from vaccinations is virtually unheard of. So don't forget the millions of lives saved by vaccinations when you accuse drug companies of calling people "collateral damage".

Anonymous - (sigh, why is it that people like you have no balls to use their real name in an honest discussion?)

In any case - your diatribe is wrong. Saying that "I know plenty of families that do not vaccinate and their children are quite healthy" does not miss the point at all.

People died prior to the 20th century not necessarily because of lack of vaccination - but instead over lack of proper hygiene and nutrition. (ever hear of the Black Plague?) It is ludicrous to say that I, (and everyone else) would be dead had I (and everyone else) not been vaccinated as a child. In fact, I received way less vaccination as a child then most kids do today!

Additionally, I recall when I was little and someone on the street had measles - all the moms would send their kids over to play so their kids would get measles and develop the necessary natural immunity. No one needed an injected cocktail full of mercury and who knows what else.

That you claim "There is no evidence that vaccinations cause autism" is absolutely rife with Big Pharma propaganda. The fact that you totally ignore what parents have to say and report - those that know their own child best - is just pig-headed ignorance. I would take what a parent has to say over any medical doctor or study any day of the week.

Your assertion that "Very very few children are harmed by vaccinations" is just absolutely absurd and wrong, and represents yet again Big Pharma propaganda. And even if that is true - do we just ignore those that have been irreversibly harmed or even killed? There is your "collateral damage". Oh well, too bad for them.

Even the IOM has openly admits that vaccines cause measles, febrile seizures, anaphylactic shock and other potentially fatal side effects. It also admits that other vaccines are linked to a whole host of bizarre side effects, including skin lesions, difficulty breathing and live virus infections.

In fact, drug companies factor into their costs of their vaccine production the cost of this "collateral damage", namely adverse reactions and the lawsuits that come with them.

You can dismiss and deny adverse reactions (including seizures and death and permanent disability) but that does not make it any less true or real for those that experience it.

Please, go peddle your pro-pharma propaganda somewhere else.
I will stick with informed consent anytime.. parents need to know that some vaccines damage some kids, and they need to be made aware of the risks.

But we all know in the meantime the drug companies will find enough low income people, prisoners, mental patients and servicemen and women to use as guinea pigs for their injected cocktails. After all, aren't they are all merely expendable?

Regarding your comment: "drug companies factor into their costs of their vaccine production the cost of this "collateral damage"

This is a result of lawyers gone wild a whole industry designed to extract large amounts of money from all corporations, not just health care related companies. Most of these lawsuits are prosecuted in states like Mississippi where bad laws and uneducated populations make it possible for lawyers to get away with things they could never do in the sunshine. You cannot judge the effectiveness of a medication or health care technique based on a lawsuit in a backward state with backward people on the jury.

Your other comment "People died prior to the 20th century not necessarily because of lack of vaccination - but instead over lack of proper hygiene and nutrition." is partly true but only as it relates to diseases spread by poor hygiene. MOST of the diseases in question here are NOT spread by poor hygiene. How does hygiene enter into typhus or smallpox or polio or mumps or whooping cough??? As for lack of proper nutrition the evidence that this has contributed to childhood diseases is so weak I think you would be better off to not bring that up again as so-called "proof" of anything.

The fact remains, drug companies know they will be sued for the collateral damage of adverse reactions - which they already know about. So in that - they even admit that their drugs will cause people to die or be harmed. This isn't just about "sue-crazy'lawyers.

I am not surprised that you consider whole states to be uneducated. That's a pretty elitist attitude if you ask me. I would venture to say that people have been killed or made quite ill in educated states though... and have had educated juries as well.

The fact remains though - that even IOM admits that these vaccines cause injury - they said it themselves! You dispute this?

Typhus, smallpox, polio, mumps or whooping cough have pathogens which are transmitted in a variety of ways including physical contact, contaminated food, body fluids, objects, airborne inhalation. So hygiene does play an important part. I don't believe that is weak evidence. Why do you think we spend billions in third world country to promote good hygiene?

In any case... going back to the original post ... there is definitely a correlation between autism and MMR shots - parents who have damaged children know this for a fact. You can dispute it all you want and Big Pharma can write up all the nonsensical studies they wish to absolve themselves, but the fact remains that kids have been damaged.. and worse off - the drug companies know it.

Time will tell. Most of these debates are resolved eventually as science slowly does it's job and performs enough studies to know the truth. I am sure when science finally absolves vaccinations from causing autism that the "activists" will have moved on to other myths and not even acknowledge their mistake.

Judy Aron said...

When there are truly independent and comprehensive studies performed and Big Pharma money is no where near those studies then perhaps we'll see some truth - but for now these studies are tainted... and I would really like to see the internal information that Big Pharma holds that is being kept from the public. It exists, as whistleblowers from some companies came forward when the HPV vaccine was introduced and claimed that drugs had been fast-tracked and improperly tested and results had been skewed.

These so-called "activists" are merely trying to get the truth. Parents who have kids damaged by these vaccines deserve no less. You want to categorize these people as liars and cheats, then that is your unfortunate prerogative.

The fact that IOM admits adverse vaccine reactions in and of itself proves my point.

You may believe in Big Pharma's fairytales regarding no correlation between the rise in autism and vaccines, but I do not. Corporations lie (and so do the government agencies that they are in bed with)... especially when billions of dollars are at stake.

The real myth is that all vaccines are safe... and blindly pumping them into your children because Big Pharma recommends it is the biggest mistake ever. Parents need informed consent and they also have to be told the truth.
