Post Election Random Thoughts
Ok - so Obama won.
What does this mean for America?
What does that mean for YOU?
It means more taxes.
It means less liberty.
It means bigger government.
It means more statism and government control.
It means more spending and more debt.
It means that America has reached a tipping point.
There are now more "takers" (looters) and we have become a nation of government dependent people instead of people who have an attitude of self sufficiency and "can-do" mentality.
We have carefully, through government school taught (indoctrinated) liberalism, raised a generation (or two or three) of people who are narcissistic, self-absorbed, and lazy (both mentally and physically).
These are people who know/care little about history, economics and ethics.
They are people who were coddled and given awards for just showing up.
They are people who expect everything to be given to them.
They are people who expect and want government to take care of them.
More people are more interested in what their country can do for them versus what they can do for their country.. certainly a departure from John F Kennedy's declaration.
The Democrat party is no longer the party of JFK.. it is instead the party of the Socialists.
It is the party of "What's in it for ME".
The Obama administration, for all it's class warfare, cannot dig it's way out of the spending mess they have created, even if they taxed everyone's income 100%
The entitlement programs are just unsustainable.
But that doesn't stop the Progressives/Socialists from promising the moon and stars to their constituents.
"Free" birth control
"Free" cell phones
"Free" food and housing.. you name it..
But the reality is that nothing is "Free" - someone has to pay for it and that someone will be YOU .... and along with that wealth re-distribution notion, we will also suffer the consequences of the wild mad Bernanke printing presses which are also being used to pay our debts.
Interestingly enough - this is also one of the factors that brought the Roman Empire to it's knees.
Bread and Circuses.
Sadly, America is definitely not what it used to be, and it's actually pretty shameful that our country's populace have voted to take this turn. I pray that the American people will wake up to the very bad path we have taken and someday turn back, but it looks like we will eventually end up like Greece and Spain... where a dependent population faces the stark reality that the government can no longer pay for such dependency.
"A lesson in irony: The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, says 'Please Do Not Feed the Animals'. Their stated reason for the policy: Because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." - Jenny Lamb (AK)
Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
Declaration of IndependenceJuly 4, 1776
"The American Revolution was a beginning, not a consummation." (Woodrow Wilson)
The 4 principal reasons why our federal government was formed: "(1) The common defense (national security); (2) the preservation of public peace, as well against internal convulsions as external attacks; (3) the regulation of commerce with other nations and between states; (4) the superintendent of our intercourse, political and commercial, with foreign countries (foreign affairs)." - Alexander Hamilton, Federalist Paper No.23, 1787 - a founding father with most important interpretation of the Constitution.
We are a nation that has a government—not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.-- Ronald Reagan, First Inaugural Address, 1981
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." - Margaret Thatcher "Any appeasement of tyranny is treason to this republic and to the democratic ideal." - William Allen White

Men of age object too much, consult too long, adventure too little, repent too soon, and seldom drive business home to the full period, but content themselves with a mediocrity of success.
Francis Bacon (1561-1626)
The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. - Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC)
The real danger is the gradual erosion of individual liberties through automation, integration, and interconnection of many small, separate record- keeping systems, each of which alone may seem innocuous, even benevolent, and wholly justifiable. -U. S. Privacy Study Commission, 1977
